Fairytale Castle

Last week I was in London at a Debbie Brown workshop in her home, we made a Fairytale castle cake, which was really cute and would be fab for a little girls birthday if dusted with pink & pink or purple flowers attached. I dusted mine in gold dust which would look amazing on a wedding cake.

I absolutely loved the workshop, Debbie is amazing and so relaxed and there was no stress or rushing. There was only 4 of us in the workshop but she had 14 the day before. She even made us fab Chocolate Shortbread on the break.

My poor cake dummy got a battering flying home, security turned box on its side and two of the towers fell off but I managed to put them back on, however one was like the leaning tower of piza after! However it was only a dummy & not going to be used on a cake anyway! However I didn’t get a pic before I left Debbie’s House on the pics I’m putting up are after the bashing!

Hi,

your cake looks soo lovely… am thinking of making something similar for my daughter who is turning to 7 next week.. could you pls tell me what pan size you used for the bottom round cake and the hight of the same .. also the width/hight of the stand up cake (the little pointy house cake on the top of the round cake) and the turret heights….

  Hi, oh hope your daughter likes the cake, its so cute & girly esp in pink! The round cake was 6 inch, the square was 4 inch marked, half way down & cut at angle to make the roof.I made two tall turrets, one standing at the side of the tower & one to the back & also a smaller turret behind the tower. The turrets were made using kitchen roll cardboard tubes to form the shapes then when the fondant was dry remove the cardboard. I’m not sure what height they were but you will see in proportion to your base & tower. Best of luck with the cake xx
